February 2010

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:6

We have been here in Nicaragua for just over a month now. We are settling into a basic schedule and have been actively sowing the seed through tracts, witness and trying to build relationships. As we have gone about some of the routine tasks of getting settled, we have had opportunity to hand tracts to taxi drivers and store owners, soldiers, police and all ages of men women and children. While we are just getting started, we are settling in for the long haul. We expect the work here will be a marathon, and not just a sprint, and so we are trying to pray and plan accordingly. We covet your prayers as we seek to “run with patience the race that is set before us.

Although they are about 2 1/2 hours away, we have been greatly blessed to have the help of fellow missionary Shawn Vinson and his family, sent out of Dearborne Baptist Church in Aurora, IN. They have helped with our arrival and temporary storage of luggage, pointing us to a lawyer for our visas and providing an initial stockpile of tracts and correspondence courses as well as a number of cultural and practical tips along the way. We thank the Lord for them!

Praise the Lord, it was a quick and simple process to open a Post Office box here. I was able to get 20,000 response cards printed up with our address for the tracts we are and will be distributing. We hope to begin a systematic sowing here in Matagalpa, as well as visit and do a limited outreach in a couple of the nearby towns within this department in the next few months. Please pray with us as we would like to see some one-on-one Bible studies begin to develop in the near future.

For those who would like to keep up with the most frequent and timely updates, we have found that Facebook is a good means for us to keep intercessors, friends and family updated. If you do a name search for “Missionary Bruce Moore” I should be the only one pop up. Send me a friend request with a brief note and I will get back with you as soon as I am able. On my profile you will find an online journal of ministry and personal updates that you can view. To get additional family and personal updates, be sure and add Ann as a friend as well. Our primary e-mail contacts will remain the same: (brucemoore@colombia.com) OR (edification32@gmail.com). Our mailing address here on the field is listed below, however we really have no idea how secure or timely it is. Please keep this in mind if you do decide to send anything in the mail.

We want to thank you so much for your part in helping us to be here! Your prayers and support make it possible, and we trusting the Lord for a future harvest that you will share in as we begin our ministry.

January 2010

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.” Psalm 107:23

These have been exciting days for our family! As we have stepped out in faith and obedience to our Lord’s command to “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” we have seen His hand of provision, protection and leadership in many special ways. For every need, He has supplied “exceedingly abundantly” above all that we asked or thought! For every test or trial, He has supplied grace all sufficient!

For the last part of 2009, and nearly the first two weeks of 2010, we enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of our home church while packing and making final preparations for our departure. We appreciate the help of several in our home church as they helped with some of the last minute details of sorting, packing and cleaning. Our final Wednesday evening in the states was bittersweet as they held a short commissioning service for our family and we said our goodbyes.

On January 14th we departed from St. Louis, and in spite of a delay in Chicago which resulted in us missing a flight, we still arrived in Atlanta in time to get back on schedule and arrive in Managua at our regularly scheduled time! God is good! Amazingly enough, all 22 pieces of our check-in luggage, plus the 20 carry-on items, 7 children and Mom and Dad arrived intact and accounted for! Thank you for your prayers! While there is always additional stress in making a move like this, everything came together in an amazingly smooth manner.

Our initial two weeks or so in Nicaragua we were able to initiate the legal paperwork for our resident visas. While this process could take a number of months to complete, the legal process is underway, and we covet your prayers for God’s wisdom and timing in the process. The next order of business was to find housing in the city of Matagalpa, about 2 hours north of the capital city. Again, the Lord directed in a special way and we were able to sign a contract with a 1 year rental on a nice house in downtown Matagalpa. We now have the basic necessities and furnishings for settling in. The one thing lacking right now is an internet connection. We will probably be limited to visiting the local internet cafe’s for a while, so our e-mail communication will be a little sporadic.
